bruceBruce Sheffler, Chairman of the Board

Bruce Sheffler had a long career in the sales and management industry and served in the United States military. Bruce served in the United States Army from 1968 – 1971 and served in Vietnam from 1969 – 1970. Following the military, Bruce worked as a real estate broker and land developer from 1971 – 1977. From 1978 – 1983 Bruce worked in construction management. From 1983 to 1992 Bruce was a manufacturer’s representative for various carpet mills in Dalton, GA. From 1992 – 1999, Bruce was a representative for various special finance companies in the automotive industry. Finally, from 1999 – 2006, Bruce finished up his career as a special finance manager for a franchised automotive dealership in West Frankfort, IL. Currently, Bruce spends most of his time volunteering at the Marion VA Medical Center. Bruce founded Vets4Vets in 2011 and will provide oversight of the Board of Directors and will ensure Vets4Vets is fulfilling its mission.

Rev. Jim Rivett, Board Member

Rev. Rivett served with the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Vietnam for 18 months from 1968 to 1969, in Northern I Corps.  Rev. Rivett is an ordained Lutheran pastor emeritus (retired) and presently serves as part-time Chaplain at the Marion VA Hospital 3 days a week. Rev. Rivett will serve on the Vets4Vets board and will provide guidance and oversight of the services related to chaplaincy on campus.

fredFred Nater, Board Member

Fred Nater graduated from the Missouri Military Academy in 1968 and spent time in Vietnam from 1969 – 1971. Fred is currently retired and worked as an electrical contractor. Fred is the past VFW Post 3838 Commander and is a life-time member of the VFW and DAV. Fred is also a member of the American Legion, American Legion Riders, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Fraternal Order of the Elks, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Elks Lodge 639.

 

ryanRyan McKennedy, Board Member

Ryan McKennedy is currently serving in the Illinois Army National Guard as a Human Resource Sergeant, and is a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. Ryan is currently pursuing his Master of Social Work degree with a concentration of Community Organization, Planning & Administration with a sub concentration of Military Social Work.
